“Today is a day of tribute to the elders, for an independent homeland and for a two-nation ideology whose truth has proven now,” said Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar.
He said that today the heirs of these elders(ancestors) face a new challenge. A natural disaster that has engulfed the whole world, even the developed countries are looking helpless against the Coronavirus.
He said that today is a day to remember the Kashmiri brothers and sisters who, despite being helpless in the face of the worst state terrorism and natural disaster, have become examples of resistance to self-determination. The people of Occupied Kashmir will surely succeed in this struggle.
Spokesman of the Pakistan Army said that Pakistan is facing a serious challenge of Coronavirus at this time. Pakistan is well aware of its responsibilities and will utilize all efforts and resources in this regard.
He said that a special Corps Commanders Conference was held on the Coronavirus yesterday in which the situation was reviewed. The government of Pakistan has called for the army to assist civil administration under Article 245.
The spokesman said that the Army Chief has ordered the deployment of the available military, military medical resources as per the requirement while banning all types of gatherings, cinemas, shopping malls, wedding halls, swimming pools, and unnecessary movements.
DG ISPR said that vehicles carrying food items will be allowed. Public transport will be closed in the cities and international flights will be closed at all airports till April 4, in the days specified by the provincial governments.
He added that food stores and medical stores will remain open.
According to the spokesperson, all borders have been closed as a security measure, but the actual border between human and coronavirus, which has to be controlled, is effective prevention, limiting movement.
The spokesman said that the army would help plan federal and provincial governments against the virus.
