Star footballer Lionel Messi and Formula One car champion Louis Hamilton have been jointly named Sportsman of the Year, while American gymnast Simone Biles has been awarded Sportswoman.
The annual Laureus Sports Awards 2020 took place in Berlin, Germany, in which the Sportsman of the Year award was jointly awarded to Argentine star and Spanish football club Barcelona player Lionel Messi and Britain’s leading car racer Louis Hamilton.
Louis Hamilton is the current Formula One champion and has won this honor six times, which has earned him the Sportsman of the Year award.
Last year Barcelona, led by Lionel Messi, won 10th title in the Spanish Football League La Liga while the Barcelona club has won the title 26 times.
American gymnast Simone Biles won five gold medals at the Championships in Germany last year, based on her being named Sportswoman of the Year.
