The administration of Peshawar Zalmi, a leading franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has appointed Wahab Riaz as captain in place of Darren Sammy, who has led the team for the past three years, while Sammy has been appointed head coach for the next two years.
The announcement was made by Mohammad Akram, the bowling coach of Peshawar Zalmi along with Darren Sammy, at a press conference at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Mohammad Akram said that Darren Sammy will now take over as Head Coach and Player in the team instead of the leader of the team. The services of Sammy as captain are excellent. He will be Head Coach for the next two years while the team will be headed by Wahab Riaz.
On the occasion, Darren Sammy said that he was not fully fit for the last two seasons and that his performance this season was not up to the mark. He said he had good relations with Javed Afridi. Sammy wished to bring young players to the tournament and want to play a different role.
